The Palace Guard is back on duty next week. To celebrate the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, the classic PUMA basketball sneaker, now in its lifestyle days, is taking on a patriotic new colorway to celebrate.

PUMA Hoops has been knocking their recent releases out of the park, from perfectly timed drops for new on-court colorways to special edition releases of their classic silhouettes. This week, another archival silhouette has surfaced online, showing off a patriotic theme to celebrate the upcoming 4th of July. The Palace Guard OG, made famous on the feet of the Detroit Piston’s Isiah Thomas, is the canvas for the new project. The upper of the retro 80s silhouette has been reconstructed from a “worn” Suede dyed in a smooth grey tone, resting on top of an off-white upper. Cursive script on the outer heel indicates the significance of this release reading “4th July, 1776”, the date the declaration of independence was signed. Lastly, the look is completed by cream-colored laces, which can be swapped with the extra pair decorated with the American flag’s stars & stripes.
