PUMA’s Cell technology from the 90s made a strong return last year, appearing on both classic and new original silhouettes. Now, the German sportswear giants have revamped the fan-favorite look, now dubbed LQDCell, for modern athletics.

PUMA has jumped back onto the basketball court with force, establishing their new silhouettes through a wide variety of athletes. The first shoe, an ode to the Clyde, the original signature model for an NBA player, was a hit and helped propel PUMAs strong sales throughout the past months. Now, the PUMA Hoops team is in the process of rolling out their latest project, the LQDCell Origin. The hightop silhouette is constructed from a mesh base layer reinforced by leather overlays. The two latest colorways of the Origin take inspiration from drones and their place in the sky, coloring one pair in white with splashes of baby blue, and the other in various shades of navy blue, one for day and the other for nighttime.

The new PUMA Origin is the first shoe to feature the brand’s updated Cell technology. Titled LQDCell, the sports science experts at PUMA have re-engineered their famous cushioning to be more compact and malleable, meaning the heel section will provide more rebound in every step while adapting better to hard cuts on the court. The LQDCell Origin is currently only available in a select few colorways, though PUMA has stated that they will be rolling out the new technology in silhouettes throughout the Summer, as well as more performance models.
