In the 1980s, running technologies were in a very different place. These days, we have different gels and foams underfoot to provide cushioning, but in the early days of sneaker technology, the materials underfoot were much simpler. in the 1980s, PUMA introduced the Fast Rider, which looked to new Federbein outsoles for extra shock absorption. Since then, the technology in the silhouette has long been obsolete, but the style of the Fast Rider remains popular. This week, PUMA is building off of their original 1980s design with two new silhouettes based on the 80s classis. Titled the Future Rider and Style Rider, both build on the historic sneaker, featuring visible outsole lugs, stiff heel clips, and layered uppers complete with PUMA’s famous Formstrip.
