PUMA has been pushing their boundaries in 2020, daring themselves to see what awesome new silhouette or technology they can dream up. This week, we have our second look at the new XETIC midsole, this time on the lifestyle-minded Calibrate Restored.

This month, PUMA’s performance division has unveiled their latest new cushioning technology, which was developed in partnership with the MIT Design Lab. Titled XETIC, the name is derived from the term ‘auxetic materials’, which in this case, refers to the foam used in the midsole and its uncommon response to mechanical stress and strain. So, in tandem with the MIT Design team, PUMA came up with a horizontal figure-8 shape that is ideal for energy return, peppering it throughout the foam midsole to create a form that flexes and adapts with each step. Debuted last week in the form of the Calibrate Runner, now, PUMA is showing off what XETIC can do in a lifestyle shoe, with the new Calibrate Restored. The new Restored variation was built for the future, making use of numerous layers across the upper constructed from mesh, suede, and plastic to form an aggressive new look.
