Louis Vuitton had big shoes to fill due to the passing of their Menswear Creative Director, Virgil Abloh but the fashion label just announced that Pharrell Williams will fill the role and supply the brand’s vision going forward.
When composing potential lists of who may fill the position for Louis Vuitton, Pharrell was likely on most of the rumored lists thanks to his many accomplishments throughout his career. From producer, rapper, singer, founder of Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream, adidas collaborator, and Human Race visioner, and even adding two Louis Vuitton collaborations to his name back in 2004 and 2008, along with other collaborations with luxury brands such as Chanel and Moncler, Pharrell has done it all and now he will be the next leading voice as streetwear continues to merge into high fashion and luxury styles.
He is now the second African American director to be named a head designer for the company, while Virgil Abloh was the first back in 2018. While just being revealed today, we won’t see any of the outlooks that Pharrell has for the brand until June, as his first collection will be center stage during Paris Fashion Week 2023, Louis Vuitton announced.
While this is huge news for Pharrell and Louis Vuitton, it’s also huge news for streetwear fans as we can expect the luxury brand to allow street-wear styles to continue to dominate the initiative, which is pretty exciting. We will be following the collection closely so be sure to follow JustFreshKicks for more Louis Vuitton news.
