Nike’s “Dunks Not Dead” Dunk Low Continues The Release Streak

0

The Nike Dunk has dominated the brand’s releases for the last four years. Many fans have declared over and over that the model is “dead”, but now the Swoosh is declaring their thoughts on the matter with the “Dunks Not Dead” edition.

Introduced in 1985 as a premier basketball shoe, the Nike Dunk has been an icon ever since. The model was adopted as a streetwear silhouette in the ’90s and early 2000s, particularly the SB version, and has been an essential piece of the sneaker and collecting history ever since. In 2020, the Swoosh rolled out a massive retro of the shoe, and have continued to regularly release new styles ever since, which has made the once-elusive model easy to find in any footwear store.

Now, Nike is making their statement on the state of the Dunk with a new “Dunks Not Dead” edition. The pair sports a leather and canvase upper in black and olive green, with pale pink logos on either side that are backed by velcro and can be replaced easily. Several lace ornaments accompany the pair, including the “Dunks Not Dead” branded pin.

adidas Sportswear’s New XLG Metawave Releases in 2025

Over the last two years, adidas has been building up their new Sportswear division, which pulls inspiration from performance shoes for lifestyle wear. This year, they have a number of new models on the way, including this XLG Metawave.

adidas is taking steps in the direction of a more fashion-minded approach to their sneakers offerings, after releasing a few high-profile collaborations with big name labels. This is largely the focus of their Sportswear team, which takes inspiration from their performance teams and translates it into lifestyle models. This week, one of their new silhouettes for 2025 has emerged; the XLG Metawave.

The new XLG Metawave from adidas looks like something from Balenciaga and their eccentric footwear designs. The shoe’s construction is comprised of layers of mesh, synthetics, and molded plastic pieces, with striped pieces that give it the appearance of being in motion. Midsoles feature LightStrike technology, with a very prominent heel section that protrudes a good amount from the back. Already, a handful of colors for the new model have surfaced and can be seen below.

“Black Roses” Adorn a Second Valentine’s Nike Dunk Low

Valentine’s Day sneaker releases are nothing new for Nike, with each year bringing a fresh take on a classic Swoosh sneaker. For 2025, the Dunk Low returns with a new molded rose theme, of which a “Black Roses” pair has surfaced this week.

The Dunk has become Nike’s signature shoe in the past few years, after the Swoosh finally made the iconic model available en masse back in 2020. Since then, the previously extremely limited silhouette can be found at every mall and shoe store in America, with hundreds of colorways available. However, they still surprise us with some special releases, like next year’s “Roses” pack for Valentine’s Day.

The second colorway of next year’s Valentine’s Dunks popped up this week, but there is still the brighter red and white look coming for those interested in a more colorful style. The black pair mixes an anthracite suede base layer with jet black overlays, featuring the same molded rose drawings as its counterpart.

Nike has brought us a handful of fresh and OG colors for the Air Max Sunder already this season, but now they are trying something new. This week we have an early look at a premium all-leather pair, cast in a “Hemp” colorway.

Nike is clearly preparing for a big year for their recent Air Max Sunder retro, with more colors filling out their release lineup on a weekly basis. After the initial rollout in classic neons, followed by a Gore-Tex pack, the next up is several gradient-style releases, and then, we are hoping to see the new premium style of the shoe featured here.

The premium new version of the AM Sunder brings high grade leather to the model’s outer shell. Normally made from flexible and breathable neoprene, this leather replacement is an interesting choice, but brings a nice quality look to the retro runner. The first pair we’ve seen comes dressed in a tonal Hemp color scheme, and is expected to arrive soon.

adidas has another range of character-inspired sneakers coming in Spring 2025. This time, they’ve teamed up with Pixar’s Toy Story franchise, and will include a pair of the Gazelle with a color schemed borrowed from Jessie the cowgirl.

adidas has become a powerhouse for creating sneakers based on beloved IP characters across a range of media brands. Their first foray was with Star Wars back in 2010, but has since evolved to include characters from Game of Thrones, Marvel, and the entire Disney catalog for the “Green”-themed series. Now, Pixar’s beloved Toy Story is taking their turn, with a range of shoes coming in 2025.

The next release from the Toy Story x adidas series has surfaced this week, after the “Woody” Samba began releasing early this month. This time around, Jessie is getting her own sneaker in the form of the Gazelle. The shoe sports an orange suede upper to match her hair and cowboy hat, with cow print stripes running down either side. Rui Hachimura is making the most of his Jordan deal, with the Jumpman producing a number of stellar PEs for the Lakers’ forward. This week, we got an early look at his “Crane” edition of the Air Jordan 1 Low, coming in 2025.

When Rui Hachimura was drafted to the NBA in 2019, he became just the second Japanese-born athlete to play in the league. The move to the US professional league came after a short but successful career at Gonzaga, and an illustrious career in Japan prior to that. In 2020, Rui released his first Jordan Brand, featuring the AJ20. This was followed by pairs of 8s, 36s, and 37s, and a special-edition Air Jordan 1 Low that never released to the public, until now.

This week, official images of Hachimura’s “Crane” Air Jordan 1 Low surfaced online, with a release expected early in 2025. The first edition of the shoe, given exclusively to him, came in a black colorway with a pattern of flowers and cranes across its overlays. Nike’s Air 180 in “Tea Tree” Releases in 2024

Nike’s reissue of the Air 180 this year is off to a hot start, kicking off with retro colorways over the Summer. More and more new colors for the model are continuing to pop up, now including a “Tea Tree” color scheme expected to arrive later this year.

The Air Max 180 originally launched in 1991, at the peak of Nike’s advancements in running technology. The model was the first shoe to feature an Air bubble visible from the bottom of the sole, and increased the size of the bag for more cushioning. The model’s unique look and sporty stance has made the shoe a cult classic, spawning a number of retro runs, most recently in 2018. Back or another go around this year, Nike continues to refresh the shoe with brand new colorways for late 2024.

The next pair of the Air 180 to land on our radar brings a fresh neutral color palette to the retro runner. Currently expected to arrive late this year, the “Tea Tree” style is a stark departure from their usual brightly-colored styles. The look features near-transparent mesh for its base layers, adding off-white suede overlays to reinforce the forefoot. “Bronzine” golden yellow tones make up the shoe’s tongues, collars, and heels, while a brown midsole completes the look.

Nike’s Air Max Sunder in “Khaki” Releases in 2025

Nike’s new launch of the Air max Sunder retro is well underway, with a small assortment of colors already on shelves. The shoe will continue to drop in new styles next year, including a smooth “Khaki” and green pair that surfaced this week.

Nike has completed their initial rollout of the Air Max Sunder this season, marking the shoe’s first release since its introduction in the early 2000s. The retro runner made its 2024 debut in a handful of neon colors before Nike gave us a Gore-tex-lined collection for the Winter. Now, new styles for 2025 have been emerging, giving us some excellent new color to look forward to in the new year.

This week, a “Khaki” edition of the Sunder has joined the Swoosh’s early 2025 release schedule. The pair features a soft tan shade for its neoprene outer shell, coloring the shoe’s mudguard in a pine green shade, with white 3M reflective panels for the signature air holes placed throughout. This is all mounted on top of a plain white and black midsole to complete the look.

Air Jordan 4 RM “Bruce Lee” Available Now

The Air Jordan 4’s RM variant debuted just this Summer, and already has an impressive lineup of colors available. This will continue into 2025 with some exciting new styles like the “Bruce Lee” look, echoing the iconic Kobe release.

Certain colorways on shoes have become iconic over the years, often as used as references to fan-favorite releases. The “Bred” mix of black and red is a staple in Nike’s releases after the Air Jordan 1, and now, whenever we see a mix of black, yellow, and red, we think of the Kobe releases that connected him with the martial arts legend.

Next year, the Air Jordan 4 RM is getting the Bruce Lee treatment. Dressed in black for its mesh, leather, and suede layers, the shoe adds a vibrant golden shade for the plastic cage pieces and midsoles, with just a hint of red to complete the iconic color scheme. No specific details point to an actual Bruce Lee connection, but its the colors that really count.

AIR JORDAN 4 RM “BRUCE LEE” RELEASE INFORMATION

The latest colorway of the Air Jordan 4 RM to surface does not have a release date yet, but is currently expected to arrive sometime in Spring 2025. The black, yellow, and red “Bruce Lee” style will be available from both Nike and select retailers for $150.

Nike Clogposite in “Light Army” Releases in January

0

Nike has reissued their Clogposite this year, bringing back the modified basketball shoe in a fresh wave of new and OG colors. More new colorways are expected to arrive throughout 2025, including a tonal “Light Army” green style.

Nike’s Posite line of sneakers first came about in the late ’90s, introduced with the Foamposite in 1997. The shoe was pioneered by legendary designer Eric Avar, who spearheaded the use of the adaptable foam technology in Nike products. The shoe’s tough outer shell was made from foam that would mold to fit the wearer as it was worn, and was later used in a variety of models, like the Flightposite, a high-top, laceless basketball shoe.

After the Flightposite’s debut in 1999, Nike released the Clogposite a few years later. This version combined the durable molding material with a low-cut, slip-on design for everyday wear. With the Clogposite back in their rotation this season, Nike has cooked up some new styles for the model coming in 2025. Among the new pairs is a simple “Light Army” style, which pits the entire shoe in a monotone shade of olive green.

NIKE CLOGPOSITE “LIGHT ARMY” RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s next release of the Clogposite sneaker has not been officially announced yet, but is expected to arrive sometime early in 2025. Dropping in a monotone “Light Army” green shade, the new pair will be available from the SNKRS app and select retailers for $140.

Nike’s reissue of the classic Air 180 runner anded this Fall, first by rolling out some of the shoe’s OG colorways. Now, they’ve moved onto fresh takes on the model, with this “University Blue” pair coming in Spring 2025.

Thirty-three years ago Nike launched the Air 180, a new running shoe in their Air Max family. The model debuted a larger, more durable style of the signature Air bag in the heels, and spawned a new era for innovation in cushioning. Now, after its last retro run in 2018, the Swoosh has rolled out the model once more, supposedly having remastered the shoe’s shape and fit.

This week, one of their upcoming styles for 2025 has emerged, remixing the sneaker in a bright “University Blue” color scheme. The look begins with a mesh base layer in Deep Royal Blue, adding the University shades for the shoe’s suede layers. Hyper Pink accents add some contrast to the look, by way of the Swooshes, branding, and midsole elements.
