adidas has been experimenting with high-end versions of their iconic sneakers, mostly through a recent Made in Italy or Germany program. This month, they are launching the new AdiClog from the Italy team.

Slip-on shoes have become immensely popular in the last few years, starting back in 2020 when people were trapped inside and looking exclusively for cozy clothing. Brands like Nike, new Balance, adidas, and more have all tossed their hats into the ring, and each has delivered something unique and interesting over the last several years.

This month, adidas is getting into the high-end mule game, with the debut of their new Adiclog model. The new silhouette is a part of their recent Made in Italy program, which has produced Superstars for JJJJound as well as some in-line styles. The Adiclog features a rich suede construction with premium leather stripes across the forefoot, and will come in either black or preloved brown.

Nike has been celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Air Max Plus for multiple years now, issuing more and more new styles like this “Lakers” purple and gold edition, coming soon.

The Nike Air Max Tuned 1 was originally released in 1998, through a partnership with Footlocker that saw the running shoe drop exclusively through the retailer’s stores. Since then, the model has become an essential part of the Air Max lore, as the first shoe to feature the at-the-time brand new Tuned technology underfoot. Now known as the AM Plus, the silhouette has been celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary since 2023 with a massive range of new colors.

The upcoming “Lakers” style of the Air Max Plus brings the iconic colors of the historic LA team to the retro runner. The gradient mesh upper features a vibrant purple shade at the toe which fades to black at the heels, and adds golden accents to the Air bags, Swooshes, and other branding elements.

The XT-Whisper from Salomon originally arrived in 2000, at the turn of the century. The model was designed as a women’s version of their XT-Hawk (also rumored to return in 2025), but has since disappeared from their catalog. Now, the Whisper is back for the new year, and already they have lined up a limited edition collaboration to help push the new (retro) model.

Salomon has leaned into the fashion aspect of their outdoor models for several years now, tapping a number of high-brow labels to release their takes on the hits. This month, New York City’s Sandy Liang is releasing their version of the XT-Whisper, which dressed the model in a soft pink hued mesh. Lorenzo G. Federici has been pumping out fantastic custom sneakers for several years now. At first a passion project but now an entire brand under the Studi.OG name, his custom shoes have become a hot commodity, thanks to colorful dye jobs on shoes like the CdG Air Max 95 and Off-White Jordan 5.

This week, Lorenz.OG unveiled his latest large scale project, this time teaming up with New Balance for a limited-edition run. The Boston brand supplied the base pairs of the 860v2, which were then dyed by hand in his signature “Dusk” color scheme, a gradient of sunset shades of yellow, orange, purple, and pink.

Nike’s Air Zoom Spiridon is back this year, kicking off in December with a retro of the “Sport Red” style. This week, another new style has appeared, this time dressing the shoe in a “Black Metallic” combination.

The original Spiridon model from Nike has been remastered, and is back for another retro run. Released in 1997 and an early adopter of the Swoosh’s Zoom technology, the Spiridon has become a cult classic, and is beloved by fans of Nike’s ’90s run for its sleek look and unique color blocking. Now back in its original form, Nike has a few colorways up their sleeve for the next few months.

This week has brought us an official look at another colorway of the Air Zoom Spiridon coming to shelves this year. Dubbed “Black Metallic”, this pair dresses the shoe almost entirely in black for its mesh and nylon laters. The shoe’s piping comes in metallic silver with matching accents in the lacing system, while chrome Swooshes and red mini Swooshes complete the look.

Kanye West has been striking out on his own for the last year after adidas cut ties with the rapper a few years ago. This week, he’s teased his first full sneaker under the new YZY brand, the BL-01 “Bully”, coming soon.

Ye’s new foray into the world of design and manufacturing is off to a roaring start. Over the last few months, the rapper/designer has released a new line of apparel via the YZY-SPLY website, which includes tees, hoodies, jackets, pants, shorts, socks, and more. Some pieces feature graphics, and all of them come in either grey, white, or black. As an added bonus for avid Yeezy fans, everything is priced at just $20. This week, ‘Ye showed off his latest creation; a brand new sneaker.

Kanye is back on Instagram, which means we once again can experience a pure stream of consciousness on social media unlike any other. This week he shared an early look at his first full sneaker under the new brand; the BL-01 “Bully”. The model we saw came in all black, and features some design choices reminiscent of his adidas products, namely, the tongue shape looks identical to that of the 700v3 model.

The NBA’s annual All-Star weekend is coming up, and so are the wave of special-edition sneaker releases for the occasion. First up, Nike is kicking things off with an Air Force 1 Low that pays homage to San Francisco, the Fog City.

Sneaker projects for early 2025 are starting to line up fast. In January, brands will release their annual Lunar New Year collections, which will be swiftly followed by NBA All-Star releases in February. Nike is getting a head start on the latter, releasing their first “All-Star” style in January, which pays homage to San Francisco and its famous fog (known locally as Karl) with the Air Force 1 Low.

The “Fog City” edition of the Air Force 1 brings some excellent details to the iconic sneaker. This special-edition pair features a black nubuck build for its upper, save for the heel panels and Swooshes which come in a metallic silver chrome finish. The mudguards and eyestays have a pattern meant to mimic the look of swirling fog in SF, which appears under direct light thanks to 3M reflective materials. Star shaped lace dubraes complete the look.

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW “ALL-STAR” RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s releases for the 2025 All-Star weekend are kicking off a month ahead of time, with this Air Force 1 style arriving on January 16th, 2025. Inspired by San Francisco’s infamous fog, this black & chrome & 3M pair will be available via the SNKRS app and select retailers for $130.

Nike Book 1 “Flagstaff” Releases in February

Devin Booker and Nike continue to roll out excellent new colorways of the Book 1 model this year. With the NBA All-Star weekend approaching, we have an early look at a new “Flagstaff” style expected to release that weekend.

In 2024, Devin Booker released his first signature shoe with Nike, the Book 1. The model, which is inspired by classics like the Air Force 1 but ready for all levels of performance on the court, has had a wide array of colors land over the last year. Booker and the Nike team have used the model as a template for Book to tell his personal stories, especially relating to his relationship with Arizona, home of the Suns.

Devin Booker is paying homage to Arizona with another Nike Book 1 release this season. Currently slated to coincide with the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, the “Flagstaff” edition celebrates one of the state’s mountain towns, and dresses the shoe in a deep “Fir” green shade. The upper features a topographic pattern stitched across the entire shoe, and the outline Swoosh comes in phantom white, with hemp soles underneath.

NIKE BOOK 1 “FLAGSTAFF” RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s release of the “Flagstaff” style of Devin Booker’s Book 1 has not been officially announced yet, though it is expected to launch next month on February 15th, 2025. Dressed in a rich green shade with hemp soles, pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers for $140.
