atmos has been a hub for sneakers and streetwear in Japan since its inception in 2000. This year, the store is turning twenty-five years old, and has teamed up with adidas to celebrate with the “Nenrin” edition Tobacco trainer.

atmos was founded in the year 2000 in Tokyo, Japan, by Hidefumi Hommyo. The chain of retail stores has since become the premier destination for sneakers and streetwear in Japan, and has racked up hundreds of collaborations with a wide range of brands including Nike, adidas, Puma, Asics, Reebok, and more. This week, their anniversary style of the adidas Tobacco trainer has surfaced, coming soon.

To celebrate their twenty-fifth year in business, atmos has teamed up with adidas to release the “Nenrin” edition of the Tobacco trainer from 1972. Nenrin is a Japanese word that refers to the idea of growth and nature, and this pair reflects that with the tree growth rings on the insoles. The upper features a beautiful brown suede, with rustic green stripes to mimic the look of an old tree.

ATMOS X ADIDAS TOBACCO “NENRIN” RELEASE INFORMATION

The upcoming release from atmos and adidas, celebrating the Japanese retailers twenty-fifth anniversary, has not been announced yet, but is likely to arrive in Spring 2025. The “Nenrin” Tobacco style will likely be available exclusively in Japan, though atmos does ship to the US. No pricing is available yet.

424 x Nike Foamposite Boot Shown at Paris Fashion Week

Los Angeles fashion label 424 is returning to the sneaker world soon, this time teaming up with Nike for a collection of footwear and apparel. The highlight of the project is a new boot version of the iconic Foamposite.

The last time we covered Guillermo Andrade’s 424 label was back in 2021, when the Los Angeles brand was teaming up with adidas’ Consortium division for a number of simple footwear projects, and an Ultra Boost with Arsenal. Now, with their Paris Fashion Week show behind them, they’ve previewed an upcoming collection with Nike.

Andrade’s love of football is once again very present in the 424 x Nike collection, with the appearance of several iconic kits being reworked with Nike and 424 branding. However, the footwear from the project is decidedly not related to the sport. Teased in some backstage images, the Foamposite Boot will be the focal point of this release, rebuilding the Foam’s inner workings to be a high-cut, rear-zippered boot. Aside from that, not much is known about this release yet.

The upcoming collection from Los Angeles’ 424 and Nike has not been announced for release yet, but is likely to arrive late this year or even in 2026. Featuring the new boot-cut Foamposite and a range of football kits, the release will likely be limited.

Last year, Salehe Bembury and PUMA announced that the designer-for-hire would be teaming up with the brand’s basketball division to create new styles. This week, he has shown off a second PUMA shoe with his signature touch.

Back in Summer 2024, Salehe Bembury announced his next move in the world of sneakers, teaming up with PUMA’s basketball division to design new styles for the German brand. At the time, he made this announcement with photos of a custom pair of the brand’s Nitro model, featuring his molded fingerprint sole underfoot. Now, he has teased one of his debut releases from the team-up, which appears to be more of a running shoe.

The close-up look at Salehe’s first PUMA signature shoe gives us a lot to look forward to from his designs at the German brand. The model in question appears to be some sort of running shoe, with an upper made from mesh and synthetic, taped overlays. They come in an organic pattern, something he includes on nearly every release, and have a topographic pattern molded into the shoe’s soles. Co-branding appears on the tongues and the medial sides of the shoe, which comes in a soft green and bright blue colorway.

SALEHE BEMBURY X PUMA RELEASE INFORMATION

The debut sneaker from Salehe Bembury’s new partnership with PUMA has not been announced for release yet, and we do not even know the model’s name yet. However, they have been working together for some time, and we expect to see a release sometime later in 2025.

Kanye West is back with his eponymous Yeezy brand this month, kicking off 2025 with a new range of apparel, and to our surprise, footwear. Check out his new colors of the Yeezy SL-01 slipper, coming soon.

Kanye West is back in the apparel and footwear game this year, after taking some time post-adidas deal to build up a new design and manufacturing process. The artist has also introduced a new twist with his releases, with everything priced at just $20. T-shirts, hoodies, rain coats, socks, shorts, and more are all available from his new YZY SPLY website, with the extremely affordable price option.

Among the new releases is a surprise footwear option, the SL-01 slipper, The model is a very simple molded (presumably rubber) slip-on shoe, which is already available in black and comes in even-numbered whole sizes (2, 4, 6, 8, etc.) Now, Ye has teased some more colors of the shoe, including a light tan pair and another in a cool grey shade.

YEEZY SL-01 RELEASE INFORMATION

Kanye West’s new colors of the Yeezy SL-01 slipper do not have a release date yet, but will likely quietly launch on his YZY SPLY website sometime soon. The black pair is still readily available after its launch last week, for just $20.

Nike’s “Dunks Not Dead” Dunk Low Continues The Release Streak

The Nike Dunk has dominated the brand’s releases for the last four years. Many fans have declared over and over that the model is “dead”, but now the Swoosh is declaring their thoughts on the matter with the “Dunks Not Dead” edition.

Introduced in 1985 as a premier basketball shoe, the Nike Dunk has been an icon ever since. The model was adopted as a streetwear silhouette in the ’90s and early 2000s, particularly the SB version, and has been an essential piece of the sneaker and collecting history ever since. In 2020, the Swoosh rolled out a massive retro of the shoe, and have continued to regularly release new styles ever since, which has made the once-elusive model easy to find in any footwear store.

Now, Nike is making their statement on the state of the Dunk with a new “Dunks Not Dead” edition. The pair sports a leather and canvase upper in black and olive green, with pale pink logos on either side that are backed by velcro and can be replaced easily. Several lace ornaments accompany the pair, including the “Dunks Not Dead” branded pin.

Nike’s new “Dunks Not Dead” edition of the classic silhouette does not have a release date yet, but is expected to arrive sometime soon in 2025. adidas Sportswear’s New XLG Metawave Releases in 2025

Over the last two years, adidas has been building up their new Sportswear division, which pulls inspiration from performance shoes for lifestyle wear. This year, they have a number of new models on the way, including this XLG Metawave.

adidas is taking steps in the direction of a more fashion-minded approach to their sneakers offerings, after releasing a few high-profile collaborations with big name labels. This is largely the focus of their Sportswear team, which takes inspiration from their performance teams and translates it into lifestyle models. This week, one of their new silhouettes for 2025 has emerged; the XLG Metawave.

The new XLG Metawave from adidas looks like something from Balenciaga and their eccentric footwear designs. The shoe’s construction is comprised of layers of mesh, synthetics, and molded plastic pieces, with striped pieces that give it the appearance of being in motion. Midsoles feature LightStrike technology, with a very prominent heel section that protrudes a good amount from the back. Already, a handful of colors for the new model have surfaced and can be seen below.

ADIDAS XLG METAWAVE RELEASE INFORMATION

adidas’ Sportswear team has not yet officially announced the new release of the XLG Metawave, though the model is expected to release sometime in Spring 2025. With a wide range of colors already lined up for the year, pairs will be available from both adidas and select retailers. No pricing information is available yet.

“Black Roses” Adorn a Second Valentine’s Nike Dunk Low

Valentine’s Day sneaker releases are nothing new for Nike, with each year bringing a fresh take on a classic Swoosh sneaker. For 2025, the Dunk Low returns with a new molded rose theme, of which a “Black Roses” pair has surfaced this week.

The Dunk has become Nike’s signature shoe in the past few years, after the Swoosh finally made the iconic model available en masse back in 2020. Since then, the previously extremely limited silhouette can be found at every mall and shoe store in America, with hundreds of colorways available. However, they still surprise us with some special releases, like next year’s “Roses” pack for Valentine’s Day.

The second colorway of next year’s Valentine’s Dunks popped up this week, but there is still the brighter red and white look coming for those interested in a more colorful style. The black pair mixes an anthracite suede base layer with jet black overlays, featuring the same molded rose drawings as its counterpart.

Nike’s Air Max Sunder Gets a Premium Upgrade in “Hemp” Leather

Nike has brought us a handful of fresh and OG colors for the Air Max Sunder already this season, but now they are trying something new. This week we have an early look at a premium all-leather pair, cast in a “Hemp” colorway.

Nike is clearly preparing for a big year for their recent Air Max Sunder retro, with more colors filling out their release lineup on a weekly basis. After the initial rollout in classic neons, followed by a Gore-Tex pack, the next up is several gradient-style releases, and then, we are hoping to see the new premium style of the shoe featured here.

The premium new version of the AM Sunder brings high grade leather to the model’s outer shell. Normally made from flexible and breathable neoprene, this leather replacement is an interesting choice, but brings a nice quality look to the retro runner. The first pair we’ve seen comes dressed in a tonal Hemp color scheme, and is expected to arrive soon.

NIKE AIR MAX SUNDER “HEMP” RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s upcoming premium style of the Air Max Sunder does not have a release date yet, but is currently expected to release sometime in Spring 2025. The simple hemp color scheme in an all leather build will be available from both Nike’s SNKRS app and select retailers with its new price tag of $180.

Toy Story x adidas Gazelle “Jessie” Coming in Spring 2025

adidas has another range of character-inspired sneakers coming in Spring 2025. This time, they’ve teamed up with Pixar’s Toy Story franchise, and will include a pair of the Gazelle with a color schemed borrowed from Jessie the cowgirl.

adidas has become a powerhouse for creating sneakers based on beloved IP characters across a range of media brands. Their first foray was with Star Wars back in 2010, but has since evolved to include characters from Game of Thrones, Marvel, and the entire Disney catalog for the “Green”-themed series. Now, Pixar’s beloved Toy Story is taking their turn, with a range of shoes coming in 2025.

The next release from the Toy Story x adidas series has surfaced this week, after the “Woody” Samba began releasing early this month. This time around, Jessie is getting her own sneaker in the form of the Gazelle. The shoe sports an orange suede upper to match her hair and cowboy hat, with cow print stripes running down either side. Off-white tongues and heel tabs add some more color to the shoe, while orange rope laces with her belt buckle as an ornament complete the look.
