First Official Look at an adidas AE 2 Sample

0

adidas has had a strong year with their first signature shoe for Anthony Edwards, the AE 1. The model has been widely proclaimed as one of the best basketball signatures in years, and their strong line of colors has helped immensely. Now, we have our first look at a sample of the next iteration, the AE 2.

Anthony Edwards has been one of the most dominant up and coming NBA players in his first few years in the league. The young guard is entering his fifth season in the league, and has already racked up multiple playoff appearances as well as All-Star and All-NBA commendations, and participated in the Olympics for Team USA this Summer. On top of that, he has one of the best signature sneakers in the world at the moment, and is looking for another with his upcoming adidas AE 2.

The success of the AE 1 has been a huge bonus for adidas’ basketball offerings over the last year. The signature model has been one of the most well-regarded performance shoes of the past year, and its unique design has brought us a wide range of fun and exciting colorways. Now, after rumors of the AE 2 making its debut later this year, we finally have an early look at what we can expect to see come this Fall. The new version removes the shoe’s all-encompassing outer shell in favor of stripped-down support overlays, while retaining the inner bootie. The general shape is the same, with more options for color blocking.

adidas has yet to officially announce or unveil the next Anthony Edwards signature, the AE 2. However, we will likely see more and more photos of the model as we head into the NBA season in October. The shoe will likely be limited in its first releases before widening in scope, and is expected to maintain a similar price tag around $120 as the initial silhouette.

UPDATE 3/6/25: During their earnings call this morning, adidas teased us with the first official look at the AE2, Anthony Edwards’ second signature sneaker. Though they did not even acknowledge the image shown or the popularity of Edwards’ first model, his logo can clearly be seen on the tongue of the silhouette. The model appears to have changed after the last leaked images, changing the construction and materials of the upper.

UPDATE 10/2/24: New photos of another adidas AE 2 sample have surfaced this week, this time in a colorway which adds more black to the shoe’s color scheme.

END. x adidas “Tying the Knot” Pack Drops This Week

British retailer END. Clothing has a long and impressive history of adidas collaborations. This week, they are adding another to the ever-growing list, with their Superstar Vintage & Japan OG in the “Tying the Knot” pack.

London’s END. Clothing has been one of the most prolific collaborators in the sneaker world for the last decade. Each year, they release a wide variety of projects with an array of different brands, but their relationship to adidas appears to be the strongest. The retail chain has been a part of the Consortium circle for years, and gets near complete creative control in their Three Stripes releases.

This week, END. and adidas are headed to the altar to officially tie the knot with an ode to weddings and long & healthy relationships. The “Tying the Knot” pack features two silhouettes, the Superstar Vintage and Japan OG, each in colorways depicting traditional wedding attire in Western countries. First up, the Superstar gets a mostly black palette, adding a fringed lace covering and silver branding to mimic the details of a tuxedo. The Japan OG is inspired by wedding dresses, featuring an all-white construction with a lace-like pattern for the shoe’s base layer.

One final detail unites both shoes in matrimony, with each featuring embroidery on the insides of the tongues. Sewn in with metallic silver thread, the old English rhyme “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” is mirrored on both silhouettes, and is meant to evoke good luck in marriage if you bring something from each category with you on your wedding day.

The New Balance 992 “Nimbus Cloud” Returns in 2025

New Balance’s 992 has returned to their Made in USA lineup this season, after the model was holstered for the last few years. This week, official photos of the “Nimbus Cloud” pair from several years back have surfaced, coming soon.

New Balance’s Made in USA line has seen a significant uptick in releases since the brand appointed their frequent collaborator, Teddy Santis of Aimé Leon Dore, as the line’s creative director in 2020. Since then, the two have released regular Seasonal Collections, highlighting some retro NB silhouettes through upscale materials and expertly manufactured in the USA. Each season, the two have rotated models in and out of the lineup, with 2023 bringing the 998 into the fold. Last year, Santis has teased the return of the 992, after its initial retro run that began back in 2020 and ended in 2022. Now, the model joins the MADE lineup beginning this Summer.

While we are looking forward to seeing some of the new styles in store for the 992 this year, official images that appeared this week indicate New Balance is running back a few fan-favorites from the last run. Today, the 2020 “Nimbus Cloud” style has emerged, and is expected to arrive this Spring. The look pits the shoe in a mix of white and cream suede layers for the upper, which are stacked on top of a grey mesh base. Minor hits of reflective silver adorn the N logos to complete the look.

Jordan Brand’s push of the Jordan 4 RM model is one of their strongest product launches in recent years, going all in on the new design. Nike Air Max Waffle in “Hyper Blue” Releases in March

Nike’s new hybrid silhouette of two iconic technologies, the Air Max Waffle, is finally here. This week, they’ve announced the release of another color scheme early next month, dressing the shoe in a “Hyper Blue” palette.

Last year, Nike debuted a surprising new hybrid sneaker, which combined their classic Waffle running shoe with the more technical Air Max Tuned technology. Dubbed the Air Max Waffle, the model launched in November, and delivers a good-looking mix of two styles from very different eras of Swoosh innovation. Now, the silhouette is back in 2025 with new colorways for Spring.

The latest new look for the Air Max Waffle is set to arrive in March, and sticks with the colorful styles that have dominated its releases so far. The silhouette’s nylon upper comes in a bright “Hyper Blue” shade, which is paired with a metallic gold accent for the Swooshes and heel tabs. Black suede frames the shoe along the toes and heels, with an off-white midsole underneath, which hides mismatched blue and red Air bags.

Asics has kicked off their Spring season this week with a refresh of new colorways for some of their most popular SportStyle silhouettes. Their focus on repurposing retro runners has expanded the lifestyle options dramatically in recent years, furthering the hype around the dad trend and vintage styling. Among their new releases are some fresh takes on the GEL-Nimbus 10.1, a 2008 model revamped for today.

The GEL-Nimbus 10.1’s asymmetrical design originally released in ’08, and was crafted to mimic and support the foot’s natural bone structure. This week, a new “Rainy Lake” style has landed, giving the silhouette a palette dominated by a fresh Spring shade of green. size? Teases Their Exclusive New Balance 2002R Protection Pack

size? is cooking up another exclusive release with New Balance this season, following up on their “Bacon” 860v2 from last year. This time, the 2002R Protection Pack model is their canvas, coming in three colors this Spring.

New Balance’s “Protection” series of the 2002R was so immensely popular after its initial release that the rough-edged version became a seasonal staple for the last four years. Also known as “Refined Future”, the jagged cuts even found their way onto the 1906R when that model made its debut in 2022. Now, New Balance is handing over the reins to their frequent collaborator, London’s size? to create their own three colorways of the fan-favorite model.

size? is one of the best and most prolific collaborators in the world of sneakers. The London-based retailer is constantly putting out new exclusive releases, keeping their releases fairly minimal by not going too crazy with added details, instead opting for new original color schemes. For their take on the 2002R Protection pack, they’ve drafted three new styles of the silhouette in neutral colors. The first gives the retro runner an all-silver makeover, while the second comes almost entirely in black with hints of grey. The third style features several different shades of brown across the layered upper. All three pairs are united by butter yellow laces on top.

SIZE? X NEW BALANCE 2002R PROTECTION PACK RELEASE INFORMATION

London retailer size? has not yet announced the release of their exclusive New Balance 2002R Protection Pack colors, but they are expected to arrive sometime in Spring 2025. Coming in black, silver, and brown colorways, pairs will be exclusive to size? stores and online, and are likely to come with a price tag around $160.

The Air Force 1 Low Canvas “Linen” Releases in Canvas in March

Nike is rolling out their iconic “Linen” Air Force 1 again this year, after the shoe released last Summer as a part of their Cult Classics series. This time around, the beloved style is swapping out the leather upper for a simple canvas build.

The “Linen” style of the Air Force 1 originated in 2001, when it was released as a part of Nike’s Co.JP line, exclusive to Japan. The colorway remained an all-time AF1 grail for years until it appeared as a special release for Kith’s Miami store opening in 2016. Then, the model finally got a global release last year, bringing the fan-favorite colorway to the masses in time for the Summer.

This week, news of another Linen AF1 release has come across our timelines, as well as some early photos of the updated style. This time, the shoe is getting a canvas construction for the upper, ditching the usual supple leather in favor of a more lightweight material. The Swooshes still come in a soft pink leather, and this release is expected to be accompanied by a matching pair of the Air Max 1.

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW CANVAS “LINEN” RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s rerelease of the iconic “Linen” Air Force 1 has not been announced yet, but is expected to release later this month on March 20th, 2025. The soft tan and pink color scheme will likely be available from both Nike and select retailers for $130.
