As one of Nike’s All Conditions Gear OG, the silhouette returns once again as part of the “No Cover” collection. Olivia Kim, Nordstrom’s Resident VP of Creative Projects brings forth a new iteration of the Air Mowabb redesigned.
While the model gained popularity due to its 2018 Comme des Garçons’ interpretation, this iteration parallels the aesthetic of ’90’s. Kim’s take on each of her models represents the vibrant and unique fashion of New York during her early career years. The Nike Air Mowabb was first introduced as an outdoor shoe for muddy and rocky terrains; Kim redesigns this notion and allows the model to act as an everyday shoe. Her attention to detail takes the ACG silhouette off the trail and into the streets.
Although the colorway derails vastly from its OG predecessor, the model works in many ways. Its mixture of dark and light colors parallel the fashion of the 1990’s and create a nostalgic look while also bringing forth a contemporary design. Its upper is mainly covered by black hues with brown panels that work together well throughout the model. Hints of Teal and Red are also seen through its ankle, backtab, and sole. Reminiscent of New York night life, the model is “the perfect hiking sneaker for a club kid”.
