Nike’s Spiridon Caged 2 silhouette returned earlier this year to plenty of praise from the sneaker community, particularly the special Stussy collaborations. Now, Nike is pivoting the vintage silhouette, unveiling this colorful “Welcomes the World” iteration this week.
The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Caged 2 has been bouncing around the sneaker world this year, thanks to reintroduction into the brand’s arsenal from a Stüssy collaboration. Now, the silhouette is continuing to work its way through a variety of Nike’s different design teams, with the latest colorway to surface showing off some pretty interesting detailing. The new style is our first look at an upcoming “Welcomes the World” collection that paints the Spiridon in a variety of pastel tones, though it is currently unclear what the collection is all about. This Spiridon begins with some material switches, opting for various types of mesh instead of the singular chain-link-style version found in standard releases. The quarter panels come in bright blue, while plain white mesh makes up the toebox and tongue. Yellow leather wraps the heel, while a pink cage for the heel Air bag rounds out the colorful portion of the shoe. Lastly, the Spiridon Caged 2’s unique seam overlays are made from off-white suede.

Nike’s latest special release of the recently revived Air Zoom Spiridon Caged 2 has not yet been announced for release, though we are likely to see several more shoes in similar tones pop up before the collection drops. This colorful iteration will likely come with an elevated price point due to the materials used and release from both Nike and select retailers. UPDATE (7/10/20): The colorful new look for the Nike Zoom Spiridon Caged 2 has officially been announced as a project from size? celebrating Carnaby Street in the UK. The colors and materials are meant to represent the sights and overall feel of Carnaby. The shoe is available for pre-purchase directly from size?, pending the completion of a Carnaby Street-inspired online game to unlock early access.
