The Nike Waffle Racer has been everywhere in the past few months. Between the colorways released from the Swoosh’s partnership with Sacai, and the upcoming project with Off-White, it comes as no surprise that Nike would revive their very first runner.

The Nike Waffle Racer is a true classic. One of the first-ever silhouettes engineered by Bill Bowerman, former head of the Oregon track team and Nike co-founder turned innovator extraordinaire, the return of the Waffle has been a long time coming. The original idea for the shoe came from a waffle iron, the pattern from which Bowerman theorized would provide optimal grip and traction for running shoes. While the first few attempts were unsuccessful, Bowerman ultimately succeeded, leading to the beginning of a brand we all know and love. Now, the Waffle Racer is ready to return in its original, sleek form. Colored in blue with yellow accents, Nike’s faithful recreation of the OG Waffle Racer is available now.
