Nike is expanding their React arsenal greatly this year, including a number of new silhouettes to attract more attention to the new tech. This week, the Swoosh showed off the Nike Signal, the inaugural silhouette from the upcoming D/MS/X line.
For the uninitiated, Nike’s massive variety of branding can be a bit confusing. Following the announcement of three new concept-driven franchises, we have a look at the first silhouettes from each, which give us a good idea of what to expect moving forward. Right now, we’re focusing on the new Nike Signal from the boundary-pushing D/MS/X series that will debut later this year.
The Nike Signal will be the first silhouette to release under the brand’s new D/MS/X label. Meant to push the possibilities of function and design, the D/MS/X line will be dedicated to merging Nike’s Sportswear prowess with extreme sports, like Motocross. This idea can be seen throughout the Signal’s use of durable materials and bold colors.
The Nike Signal starts off with a plain mesh upper acting as a base layer for the shoe. Instead of sewing on individual overlays to add structure, Nike has instead transferred these layers onto a single glove-like transparent plastic layer. The lacing system sticks out from under this protective layer for easier access, while the thin material stretches around to the heel to provide straps on either side to help tug the Signal onto your foot.
NIKE SIGNAL D/MS/X RELEASE INFORMATION
Nike’s first signature silhouette from the upcoming D/MS/X line, the Signal, will be available this Fall, on September 5th, 2019. The wild-looking new sneaker will carry a casual retail price of just $130, and release from both Nike and select retailers.
