The Air Jordan 1 is on top of the game right now. Coming off a year of high-profile releases, Jordan Brand has yet another planned for this Spring. Check out the Nike SB Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, coming in May.

Nike SB and Jordan Brand are teaming up for a special release of the Jordan 1, and sneakerheads are running out of patience. While some were surprised at the initial announcement of the eye-catching Air Jordan 1s, the collaboration actually makes a lot of sense for Jordan and Nike SB. Since the Jordan 1 debuted in 1985, the silhouette has made its mark in almost every major sport on Earth, including extreme sports. Both skaters and BMX riders adopted the high-top basketball shoe for its durability and stiff ankle support.

First previewed last month in several low-quality images, it took us a couple of weeks before we got a better look at the new project. Coming in two colorways, it was quickly discovered that both iterations feature color-changing materials, using painted leather that wears away over time, a la the Lance Mountain Jordan 1s. One pair begins in a purple and gold Lakers colorway before fading to the fan-favorite “Chicago” colorway, and the other begins in grey and white before revealing hot pink and orange undertones.

Nike SB’s color changing take on the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG is now expected to drop on May 25th, 2019, though this has not yet been confirmed by the brand. Both pairs will carry a retail price of $175, a small step up for the Jordan 1s usual price point.
