Nike’s Air Presto has been a staple in the brand’s arsenal since 2000, always evolving with the times. Next year, the Swoosh will introduce a radical new upgrade to the silhouette by placing atop clean React tooling.
Nike’s Presto line first burst onto the scene in 2000 as a new running silhouette for the brand. However, the Presto quickly defied its expectations, crossing over into the lifestyle category and establishing itself as a casual sneaker. Since the 90’s the Presto has seen nearly unlimited success, being adapted into a multitude of forms for use in different sports. Now, Nike is ready for another big change to the silhouette, this time in the form of their latest technology: React.
The Nike Presto React is a decently large departure from previous iterations of the casual runner. Beginning with a new mesh upper, the new look features a redesigned cage that shows similarities to the original, while also appearing much more smooth and aerodynamic, fitting in with the React aesthetic. The shape of the upper has been altered, providing a bit more of a tongue in the front. The React midsole is made to mimic the Presto tooling of years past, though it appears to borrow cues from the Element series in its construction.
Nike’s latest take on the Presto silhouette is set to release sometime in 2019, though no specific release dates have been announced. Due to the upgraded React midsole, the shoe is likely to retail for slightly more than the Presto’s usual $100 dollar range.
