Nike’s lifestyle sneakers have always been rooted in the brand’s performance origins. However, this month the Swoosh is trying something new, debuting the slip-on Offline silhouette, built specifically to spec for kicking back and “doing nothing”.

Nike’s usual lineup of lifestyle-minded sneakers is, for the most part, derived from their abundant lineup of performance footwear, with running being the most influential category. For years, Nike has pioneered new technologies for their high-end shoes, before later applying that new tech to a much simpler, everyday silhouette. However, this month, the Swoosh has something new to offer up. Still informed by their history of performance footwear, the new Offline mule silhouette is built specifically for one thing: doing nothing. The Offline features a slip-on design, eliminating most of the heel section of the shoe to allow for easy entry and removal. However, the complex upper that covers the forefoot is not entirely eliminated, as a tine lip extends around the heel to keep your feet locked in. The Offline also uses dense mesh for a breathable and comfortable upper, while a loose strap system provides necessary lockdown. Finally, the Offline’s main attraction is the interchangeable drop-in insoles. Featuring two densities and designs, one is built for more static, massage-like experience, while the other is built for all-day wear.
