LeBron James and Nike will be taking time to launch a “Gong Xi Fa Cai” rendition that celebrates an expression used for Chinese New Year.
Celebrating the act of blessing another person, the “Gong Xi Fa Cai” tradition has lasted for more than 300 years. Inspired by “Gong Xi Fa Cai”, Nike teamed up with 400ml_Brand, a local Chinese graffiti creative unit, to launch this LeBron 18’Gong Xi Fa Cai’, injecting a youthful attitude and new vitality into traditional Chinese culture.
The upper arrives in a red knitted design while a red heel and blue TPU heel matches the speckled blue white rubber midsole. To match, blue laces tie the sneaker down while “Gong Xi Fa Cai” is presented in a graffiti-inspired font as well as on the insoles. To further the design, the LeBron logo is placed purposely upside down in representation of “The King is Coming”.
