Nike’s Kobe line has a fascinating thread of soccer cleat, inspired colorways, rooted in Bryant’s love for football. The Nike Kobe 4 was originally designed with a low cut profile modeled after soccer cleats, bringing agility and speed to the court. The Swoosh’s Soccer division has also borrowed style from the Kobe team, using the fan favorite “Grinch” colorway on a pair of the VaporEdge cleats. In 2010, the Nike Kobe 6 released in a “MambaCurial” color scheme, which pulled bright colors and branding elements from the Mercurial line. This theme was repeated through several of Bryant’s signature models, including the 2013 Kobe 8.
New leaks regarding a MambaCurial Kobe 8 confirmed a rerelease of the iconic colorway, which released in 2026. The 8, now upgraded to the performance driven Protro format, will recreate the original color scheme to a T, bringing back the same vibrant tones and oversized Nike branding. The look features vivid pink shade for the upper, which features a gradient pattern that gets darker from toe to heel. Massive Swooshes cover the toe box in Electric Green with outsoles to match, while the Nike wordmark is added to the medial wall heel of the shoe.
