For the first Mamba Week without Kobe Bryant with us, Nike has taken it upon themself to celebrate the legacy of the goat with a full week of special releases you’ll want to get your hands on.

The unofficial holiday is now official. While Nike celebrated Mamba Day for the past four years beginning April 13th, 2016, the Swoosh released the Nike Kobe 11 “Mamba Day” during Kobe’s last game against the Utah Jazz. Ever since then, the holiday was celebrated every year by sneaker fans and basketball fans alike. Now Orange County has officially dubbed August 24th, “Kobe Bryant Day” which will honor the legacy of the NBA star that touched so many lives. With that news, Nike is finally set to release Kobe’s signature shoes that were expected to be released earlier this year for Mamba Week which will make the triple threat an even bigger deal.

Nike is set to celebrate Mamba week with three different initiatives: donating $1 million to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, amplifying Kobe’s universal message through the Mamba League, and continuing Kobe’s unifying and connecting efforts with select Nike x Kobe Protro colorways. The week will begin on Kobe’s birthday, August 23rd, with the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Big Stage Parade” that’s inspired by the Big Stage colorway Kobe wore during the 2010 NBA Finals and the Champion Parade PE. The celebration will continue on August 24th, “Kobe Bryant Day,” with the coveted “Lakers” iteration. The week will then be finalized with the Kobe 5 Protro “EYBL” which honors the Nike basketball league.

Check out all three colorways below and check out their release information along with each iteration. Each pair will be released via select Nike retailers and Nike.com for an individual retail price of $180. As always, make sure to keep it locked to JustFreshKicks for updates and more of the latest sneaker news from your favorite brands.
