The Nike Kobe 4 Protro will have a huge year in 2024, and for the summer, the model will be reintroducing popular colorways like the “Philly” variation, which celebrates Kobe’s childhood and upbringing.
Although to many, Kobe Bryant was and still is the face of Los Angeles, before the NBA great took a city and transformed it into his own, he was just a kid in Philadelphia, aspiring to make it big in the league. His hometown is celebrated on this version of the Protro 4, which features the 76er’s colors of Varsity Royal, White, and University Red placed throughout, which is something very rare coming out of Nike and Kobe’s collection. To increase the special effects, 8-23-78 is added to the insoles, which is, of course, Kobe’s birthdate. In celebration of the city’s past and US history significance, stars are placed onto the ankles as well, to complete the design.
