Nike has carved out a special lane in their Kobe line to celebrate his daughter Gigi, who was following in his footsteps in the world of basketball. This year’s “Mambacita” release for her birthday features the Kobe 3 Protro, coming soon.
After his retirement from professional basketball, Kobe was still deeply involved with the sport he loved. Most of his attachment to the game was through his daughter Gigi, who was a rising star even at her young age, and even served as a coach to her team the Mambas. After the Nike Kobe line returned from hiatus in the wake of their passing, one of the first releases paid tribute to Gigi through a special “Mambacita” release, which has been repeated in the years since, with an annual drop on her birthday, May 1st. This week, we have an official look at the 2026 offering, a special pair of the Kobe 3 Protro. The model comes in a simple black & white coloring this for release; white for the mesh underlay and plastic cage, and black patent leather for the toes, heels, and tongues. These panels are trimmed with some dress shoe detailing from brogues, including a jagged toothed edge and perforations. Gold branding details complete the look.

Nike’s latest release in the “Mambacita” series, a tribute to Gigi Bryant, is scheduled to release on her birthday, May 1st, 2026. The Kobe 3 Protro is the canvas for this year’s edition, dressed in white with black patent leather and some dress shoe detailings along the overlays. Gold flourishes complete the look, which will be available from Nike and select retailers for $200.
