From the Yeezy Foam Runner to Merrell’s Hydro Moc, foam slip-on sneakers have taken over the world of footwear. This week, Nike ISPA unveiled their take on the popular shoes, dubbed the Universal.

Comfortable and casual footwear took over the world back in 2020, when the best option was something suitable for mostly indoor wear. Along with the introduction of the Yeezy Foam Runner that same year, both slip-on sneakers and injection molded foam silhouettes have taken over. Almost every brand on the planet has their version of the plush laceless silhouette, the latest of which was just revealed by Nike’s ISPA division. Dubbed the Universal, the design is eerily similar to the 1996 Air Rift, utilizing a strap-like cross over the top of the shoe. The silhouette is covered with plenty of textures, and will launch this Spring in Natural and Mink colorways.
