This year Nike’s ISPA division introduced the Universal, a no-frills foam slip-on sneaker made to last through its swappable sockliners and zero-glue design. This week, a new ‘Midnight Navy’ colorway is set to release.
From the Yeezy Foam Runner to Merrell’s Hydro Moc, foam slip-on sneakers have taken over the world of footwear. This Spring, Nike’s ISPA (improvise, scavenge, protect, adapt) division joined the fray, pushing themselves to create a less wasteful silhouette with the Universal. Built from injection-molded foam derived from sugarcane, the silhouette reduces the use of harmful petroleum-based materials, in addition to its complete lack of glue. Additionally, the shoe comes with two sets of cork insoles so when one wears out, you can keep wearing the shoes. This week, the ISPA team is releasing a ‘Midnight Navy’ color scheme, which drenches the silhouette in dark blue tones. As per usual, the hand-buffed nature gives them a unique color and texture.
