Nike’s hybrid sneakers are a hit or miss affair, with some mashups rising head and shoulders above the rest. This week, Frank Cooke previewed an Air Max Goadome & Foamposite hybrid, an excellent new look coming in “Eggplant” in 2027.
Frank Cooke is back to doing what he does best. The legendary footwear designer returned to Nike & Jordan brand in 2024 after six years away, and got right to sharing early looks at upcoming releases. Back in March, Cooke shared that the Swoosh had asked him to stop doing these teases, but apparently that ban was short-lived, as Frank has given us another early peak at an in-the-works project for 2027. Frank’s focus on storytelling and curation could be a part of the reason he is still sharing with us, after the public response to Nike’s interjection in his digital presence was less than stellar.
The new preview from the designer shows off an interesting new mashup of various Nike modes. The Air Max Goadome, a trail boot revived as a low-top model early this year, acts as the base shape for this new silhouette. Rather than the usual single-piece nubuck upper, this pair sports a molded design first pioneered with the Foamposite line. Colored in the iconic “Eggplant” color scheme, the molded piece shines in shades of blue and purple depending on light and viewing angle. The rest of the silhouette is dressed in black, with a tiny reverse Swoosh outline at the collars in purple, completing the look.

Nike’s latest sneaker mashup, which brings molded Foamposite uppers to the Air Max Goadome, is currently expected to release sometime in Spring 2027. The chunky new sneaker combines the work or trail boot aesthetic of the Goadome with a molded Foam shell for the upper, cast in the iconic “Eggplant” color scheme in this year look. Pairs are expected to be priced at $200, but we won’t know for sure for some time.
