- The Nike Baltoro Boot "Chalk" revives the 1990 hiking silhouette in off-white tones with black and Safety Orange accents.
- The boot originally returned through a Stüssy collaboration before landing in general release styles shortly after in late 2023.
- The silhouette represents Nike's 1990s Trail and All Conditions Gear era, a peak period for bold hiking footwear design.

Last year Nike reintroduced their Baltoro boot, a ’90s hiking shoe, revitalizing the silhouette for the modern day. After a quiet few months, the Swoosh has teased new colors for the high-top, including a “Chalk” look, coming soon.
Nike’s catalog throughout the 1990s is frequently cited as a golden age for sneaker design. The brand was firing on all cylinders in nearly every category, pushing new advancements through their Air Max and running lines, while their basketball division was pumping out banger after banger. Outside, the Trail and All Conditions teams were at the pinnacle of hiking footwear, dressing their signature styles in bold, exciting colorways. Nike often dips into this era of their archives for retro releases, like last year’s revival of the Baltoro boot.
Originally released in 1990, the model was revived through a Stüssy collab in October, before landing in in-line styles a month later. This week, the Baltoro appeared in Nike’s SNKRS Verified series, a new angle for content in the SNKRS app that aims to preview upcoming releases ahead of rampant sneaker leaks. The new color is ripe for Summer styling, dressing the boot in an off-white Chalk color, framed in black for the soles and inner lining, with Safety Orange branding to complete the look.
