Nike has never shied away from messing around with their classic silhouettes. This year, with help from Skepta, the Swoosh released a hybrid pair of the 90’s Air Max BW featuring elements of the AM97. Now, the silhouette returns in an OG colorway.

Nike hybrids are no new concept to the sneaker world. Whether they are made by customizers looking for a more aerodynamic look, or Nike wanting to celebrate to sneakers, swapping pieces of shoes is part of footwear. This year, Nike has introduced an unprecedented number of new hybrid silhouettes, debuting the most interesting in a collaboration with grime artist Skepta. The hybrid shoe takes the upper from the cult-classic BW and places it on top of a standard Air Max 97 sole. There are a few small adjustments to account for the new sole, but nothing major to alter the look. While Skepta’s initial colorway kept things fairly clean, the first widely available retail pair throws it back to one of the BW’s original color schemes. Most of the upper will come in a reflective Metallic Silver color, accent by white and grey pieces. Finally, the colorway is complete with a bright purple Swoosh on either side.
