In 2019 it has been obvious that Nike has been updating their technology to reach different crowds of people. While the already global-recognized brand looks to reach a wider audience, they have designed a shoe for medical workers, the Air Zoom Pulse.

Athletic footwear has seen a huge increase in demand over the last couple of years. While many consumers have been demanding more comfort and have been opting for athletic shoes instead of normal sneakers, brands have capitalized on bridging the gap between the two. Boost, React, and all you can think of are examples of just that, updated midsole technology that provides comfort with every step whether you’re running a marathon or going to the grocery store, the now versatile uppers can fit any occasion.

One population that has not been accommodated to just yet are Medical workers. Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons, and other medical staff workers are likely on their feet a lot more than the general consumer and while updated technology helps them live more comfortably, there are still other aspects that their careers demand when it comes to shoes that hasn’t been met. The Nike Air Zoom Pulse has addressed those needs though and hit the ball right out of the park.

Nike tested the shoe out at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and got feedback from medical workers on the new technology. Many trials and tweaks later, the shoe is here and arrives with an easy to get on and off construction as well as an upper that is easy to clean and unlikely to be stained. All while providing a great cushioning and traction system to keep workers comfortable and safe on their hectic shifts.

Taking on a laceless upper that comes equipped with a protective PU-coated synthetic vamp, the heel is kept down with an elastic strap that allows easy one handed entry and exit to slip on and off when needed. For comfort, the sneaker features an Air Zoom unit in the heel and flexible drop-in midsole that is paired with a traction heavy rubber outsole with a water-dispersive traction pattern. For branding, a small Nike Swoosh is embroidered in on the too of the midfoot that adds just the right amount of flair.
