Nike Presents an Air Pegasus 89 Golf for the Open Championship

Nike’s Golf team has been celebrating Majors with a number of special releases this year. The Air Pegasus 89 has been the focus of these projects, getting unique makeovers to celebrate each occasion. This month, Scotland’s Open Championship gets a neutral colorway to kick off the tournament.

Nike has made a hard turn into the world of golf in the last few years, retrofitting numerous iconic silhouettes for the course, and racking up athlete sponsorships to wear them. While the Jordan line has been the main focus of this, other classic silhouette have made the transition to the gold course, like the 1989 version of the Pegasus running shoe. Earlier this year, the Golf team released a special pair for the Phoenix Open. Now, a new look for Scotland’s Open Championship has surfaced, coming soon.

Held at the Royal Troon’s Old Course in Scotland, this year’s Open Championship will be the tenth played on the links, and Nike is releasing a special pair of their Air pegasus 89 for the occasion. The retro runner is given a color palette perfect for the Scottish highlands, applying olive greens, dark browns, and sage green shades to the upper, with just a bit of plaid wrapping around the heels.

Nike’s latest special-edition pair of the Air Pegasus 89 Golf has been scheduled to release next week, on July 18th, 2024, kicking off this year’s Open Championship in Scotland. Dressed in appropriate colors and patterns, pairs will likely be limited and supply, and come with a price tag of $140.
