Last year, Nike and Yoon Ahn’s AMBUSH launched a new take on the iconic Air More Uptempo. They reduced the height of the silhouette to create its first-ever low-top version, while retaining the look and feel of the original. Now, the Low pair is coming in in-line colorways, with this all-white look arriving late in 2024.
Nike Basketball’s Air More Uptempo originally arrived back in 1996. The shoe was inspired by ’90s graffiti and pop art, which turned into the oversized AIR branding across each side of the shoe. Worn by Scottie Pippen, the silhouette quickly became a favorite in the streets, and has endured as one of the most interesting performance basketball shoes Nike ever produced. Fast forward to 2023, when Yoon Ahn’s AMBUSH label released their take on the model, removing its upper collar and casting it in bright colorways.
This week, we have our first look at Nike’s own in-line offerings for the new Air More Uptempo Low. Shorter than the original, the new style retains the massive AIR logos that made it famous, as well as the segmented Air bags underfoot. The first color we’ve seen casts the shoe in an all-white construction, made from leather with breathable mesh for the lettering.
