Nike’s Air Max franchise has become accustomed to yearly upgrades, as new developments and technologies improve the 40-year-old cushioning. This year, Air is finally making its way to the upper, starting with the new Air Max Zephyr, coming soon.

The Nike Air Max family is expanding again this month. Unveiled earlier this week, the Swoosh is once again innovating with its famous Air technology, this time adding it to the upper of the shoe. The debut model to feature Air-filled uppers will be the Air Max Zephyr, a brand new silhouette that builds on the legacy of last year’s Air Max 720 and its uniquely massive airbag. Built upon this foundation, the Zephyr incorporates a healthy mix of materials including mesh, suede, terry lining, and, of course, Air bags inserted into the shoe’s quarter panels just below the lacing eyelets. The Zephyr also follows the basic silhouette of the 720, featuring a prominent rear section and a much sleeker toebox. Nike’s Air Max Zephyr will debut in two colorways, one silver with orange and pink accents, the second in black and Volt green.
