Nike’s retro of the Air Max Sunder completed its initial wave of releases last month, kicking off the shoe’s return with a neon collection. Now, new styles of the runner are popping up, like this “Blue Ice” pair coming later this year.
Nike’s Air Max Sunder from the turn of the century got its first-ever retro release this year. The return of the iconic zippered running shoe was heralded by a collaboration with CdG several years ago, though those pairs were made in small numbers and are hard to come by. The Sunder has seen a surge in popularity online since then, pressuring Nike to reissue the model for the first time since 1999.
The return of the Sunder finally arrived this Summer, kicking things off with a three-piece collection of Neon colorways. They quickly followed up with the announcement of a Gore-Tex collection, and this week new standard-issue pairs have begun to surface at retailers. Among them is a “Blue Ice” style, which pits the shoe’s neoprene layers in a pale, barely blue tint. The rubberized overlays come in obsidian blue, while white accents complete the look.
