Jordan Brand first introduced their Reimagined line in 2023, releasing classic colorways of their iconic shoes with new materials, details, or stories. Now, Nike appears to be borrowing that theme for a series of Spring 2027 Air Max styles.
The bulk of Nike’s output in the sneaker world is based on nostalgia. Their performance footwear designs from the 1980s and ’90s still reign supreme today, from basketball models like the Air Force and Jordan lines to the running-oriented Air Max family. Every year we get retro releases of iconic colorways from that era, sometimes with a new twist or spin on the classic design. Jordan Brand introduced a new series of these “reimagined” classics in 2023, releasing special pairs of Jordans 1, 3, 4, and 5 that bring slight tweaks to original colors. Now, Nike appears to be borrowing that concept for a new series of Air Max releases.
The Air Max Reimagined line popped up on our feeds over the weekend, after the special-edition styles were spotted at the Swoosh’s Paris Fashion Week showroom. The Air Max 1, 90, and 95 are all present here, each shown in a slightly tweaked version of their OG color scheme. The Air Max 1 comes in its essential University Red style, adding subtle blue accents to the outsoles and eyelets, along with an opaque white Air bubble under the heel. The Air Max 95 follows suit, mixing a few orange accents into the fan-favorite “Neon” color scheme from its original run. The Air Max 90 is a little different from the other two, more closely resembling the “Lost & Found” Air Jordan 1 from 2023 than a Reimagined release. The pair comes in its “Infrared” look, with a scuffed finish for the heel’s TPU piece, and an aged, yellowed mesh base.
NIKE AIR MAX “REIMAGINED” PACK RELEASE INFORMATION
Nike’s new series of flipped OG Air Max colorways does not have a set release yet, though pairs are currently expected to arrive during Spring 2027. The project essentially borrows the idea presented in the Jordan’s Reimagined series, applying the slight variations on original colors to Air Maxes 1, 90, and 95, bringing a new spin to their iconic editions. Pairs will likely be limited, releasing from both Nike and select retailers. Pricing is expected to range from $160 for the AM90 up to $200 for the 95.
