Nike’s annual Air Max Day celebration is just around the corner, and with it, the launch of a new member of the Air Max family. This year, the new Genome is joining the legendary ranks, adding sporty, running-inspired silhouette to the mainly lifestyle lineup.

Nike Air Max Day is quickly approaching at the end of March, which means that the Swoosh has begun to unveil its lineup of new silhouettes and a handful of classic colorways that will return for the coming year. One of the most enticing announcements has been the new Air Max Genome, the 2021 addition to the ever-growing Air Max family. The new model bears a strong resemblance to Nike training shoes of the mid-2000s, bearing a sleek running-shoe-like shape with plenty of technology packed inside to back it up. The Air Max Genome appears to begin with a lightweight mesh base layer, before adding overlays in both synthetic textiles and perforated leather, utilizing taped overlays along the quarter panels to provide rigid support. The Genome is mounted on top of a full-length Air cushion underfoot that strongly resembles that of the Air Max 97. Finally, the Genome is completed by a new Nike Free-inspired rubber outsole for better grip and flexibility.
