Nike’s On-Air Competition has been a long time coming. First announced almost a year ago now, the six different winners from around the world will finally see their shoes release throughout 2019. First up in April is the Air Max 97 “Neon Seoul”.

Nike’s new On-Air competition has been on the back burner for almost a year now. The program was announced back in 2018, shortly after the release of Sean Wotherspoon’s “Collector’s Dream” Air Max 1/97. The project is meant to give longtime Nike fans a chance to design their own sneakers, each based upon that person’s home city in celebration of Nike’s Air Max Day. This year’s winners include individuals from New York City, Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo, and finally, Seoul, which will be the first silhouette to release. Created by Gwang Shin, this jet black Air Max 97 is adorned with bright translucent red, white, and blue overlays on the upper, meant to symbolize both the South Korean flag, as well as Seoul’s excessive neon signage.
