Nike has quietly been celebrating twenty-five years of the AM97 in 2022, releasing dozens of new colorways of the retro runner. This week, the Air Max 97 ‘Mushroom’ adds another neutral colorway of the silhouette, coming soon.
Nike’s Air Max releases have bene non-stop this year, celebrating several big anniversaries for both the AM1 and AM97 silhouettes. While the original Air Max model has seen recognition from the brand on this front, the 97’s celebration has been somewhat downplayed, though we’ve seen a number of exciting releases throughout 2022. This week, the wavy bullet train-inspired runner surfaced in a new ‘Mushroom’ colorway, decorating the shoe in shades of brown. The look begins with with a cream white canvas underlay, with its unique layering fading from top to bottom in shades of white to Mushroom brown suede. The Swooshes appear in white on either side, while a white midsole and gum rubber outsole complete the look.

Nike’s latest colorway of the fan-favorite Air Max 97 has been scheduled to release next Friday, on August 19th, 2022. Dressed in Mushroom brown and cream tones, this pair will be available directly via the SNKRS app as well as select retailers, with a price tag of $185.
