The Air Max 97 is most famous for the precious-metal themed original colorways, the gold and silver “Bullets”, respectively. This year, the Swoosh is one-upping themselves with an Olympic-themed release, which sees the vintage runner dipped in gold.

Nike has already started their Olympic-themed releases for the year, with the colorful “Rings” pack that released last week. However, there’s still another tonal Air Max 97 on the way, and this one stands out a little more than the rest. Symbolizing the Olympic Games’ highest honor, the gold medal, this sleek Air Max is covered from heel to toe, top to bottom in the brand’s signature metallic gold finish. Even the gum-style outsole reflects the sheen of precious metal, as well as the inside of the signature Air bubble. On the other hand, this pair could be a precursor to the upcoming anniversary of Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2022. You decide.
