Nike’s legendary Air Max 90 silhouette has been celebrating its 30-year-anniversary in 2020, releasing in numerous new and old colorways true to its original form. Now, Nike is flipping the classic “Infrared” look inside out for a look at what makes the AM90 tick.

Nike’s Air Max 90 has been an essential piece of the brand’s lineup since it first launched back in 1990 as a world-class running shoe. Now, the AM90 is better suited for lifestyle purposes, not only due to the older tech inside but the way that it is commonly worn. This week, the Swoosh unveiled a new spin on the classic “Infrared” color scheme for the Air Max 90, turning the upper of the shoe inside out for an up-close look at the inner layering and construction of the retro runner. Panels overlap in new ways. showing off the various stitching methods and patterns that attach them, as well as detailing the various materials involved. The upper is completed by unfinished edges along the collar and tongue, while scribbled coloring on the midsole rounds out the new ‘Inside Out’ Air Max 90.

Nike’s new deconstructed version of the classic Air Max 90 has been scheduled to release later this week, on December 10th, 2020. The ‘inside out’ version of the classic runner in its “Infrared” color scheme will be available from both Nike and select retailers, with the usual price tag of $160.
