Nike’s success with the recent Air Max 97/1 is now finding its way to new models. The Swoosh is reviving their Hybrid series from over a decade ago, starting with a combination of the Air Max 90 and Air Max 1 in a “University Red” colorway.

Earlier this year, Nike released a combination of the Air Max 1 and Air Max 97 to celebrate Air Max Day in March. Designed by Sean Wotherspoon, the shoe was immensely successful, selling out everywhere and climbing up the list for greatest Air Max shoes of all time. Now, Nike is taking the hybrid idea to their other shoes, reminiscing on a similar series of sneakers from the early 2000’s. The first silhouette will fuse the Air Max 1 upper with the Air Max 90 sole, for a clean new look sure the please Nike Air collectors. The first colorway to cover the new model uses the Air Max 1’s classic “University Red” color blocking. The upper features a grey base with red running around the sole, as well as a red Swoosh and Nike Air branding on the heel and tongue.
