Nike’s Air Max 1 is celebrating thirty-five years of history in 2022. For the occasion, Nike has crafted a number of new special releases to honor the legendary running shoe, like this fresh “Skunk” look, coming soon.

The Air Max 1 is a personal favorite. Originally released in 1987, the silhouette was the first Nike Air shoe with an exposed air bubble, allowing you to see the then-fresh cushioning technology at work while you walked or ran. The AM1 was massively popular, praised by runners for its stability and durability, and beloved by the growing world of sneakerheads for its timeless look. Now, Nike is slowly kicking off their thirty-fifth anniversary celebration of the AM1, and bringing a ton of new colorways to the table with them. This week, we got our first look at a new “Treeline” colorway that seems to take direct inspiration from a previous ‘Skunk’-themed sneaker. The look mixes light shades of brown for the mesh and leather base layer, while the mudguard is added in a lush green suede. Finally, striking purple Swooshes and Nike branding complete the look.

Nike’s upcoming Air Max 1 “Skunk” has not yet been announced for release, though we are expecting them to debut after this month’s Air Max Day celebration. Dressed in neutral tones with bold purple and green accents, this ‘Skunk’-like look will likely release from both Nike and select retailers for $150+.
