Every second Sunday of June people across the world celebrate the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade. This year, Nike looks to join the fun with the Nike Air Max 1 “Puerto Rico”.

Puerto Rico is still trying to recover from Hurricane Maria that hit the island back in 2017. Nike looks to honor the community with a special-edition collection that features Puerto Rico’s colors and flag on the most popular Nike silhouettes. The coveted and versatile Nike Air Max 1 gets its name called to show a little bit of Puerto Rican pride.

The upper consists of a variety of materials from leather, mesh, and suede. The majority comes in all-white but has added accents of red and blue that symbolize Puerto Rico’s colors. Also, on the heels, a Puerto Rican flag is embroidered in effortlessly. ‘Pa’lante” and “Mi Gente” are also written in on the inner tongue which is Puerto Rican slang for “keep going” “my people”.

As of now, there is not a confirmed release date but you can expect to see it release soon either before or on June 9th as that is when the annual holiday will take place this year. They will become available at select retailers and Nike.com for a retail price of $140. Check out official images below and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for updates and other Nike news.
