Nike’s annual Puerto Rico collection is expected to arrive next month, and this week we got our first look at this year’s sneakers, featuring two ‘Piragua’ themed colorways of the Air Max 1.
Nike first introduced their Puerto Rico collection several years ago, celebrating the island nation’s cultural impacts and heritage through limited-edition sneakers and apparel. Last year’s release featured two pairs of the Air Force 1 for San Juan and NYC, and this year’s release recently surfaced. Featuring two pairs of the Air Max 1 for 2023, the release is centered around piragua, a shaved ice dessert covered in fruit syrup. Both pairs feature plenty of fun details, as well as jelly Swooshes for a special finish. First up, the ‘Blue Gale’ pair features an off-white muslin textile as its base layer, adding light blue leather for the midfoot overlays and electric blue suede for the mudguards. The ‘Orange Frost’ look features a grey textile base, with overlays in shades of orange, yellow, and pale lime green. Both shoes feature Puerto Rico branding on the heels and lace dubrae’s as well as special tongue tags and boxes.
NIKE AIR MAX 1 PUERTO RICO ‘PIRAGUA’ RELEASE INFORMATION
Nike upcoming ‘Piragua’ pack for their annual Puerto Rico-themed release has not been officially announced, though they are expected to release sometime in June 2023. Featuring two colorways of the shaved-ice-themed shoes, in ‘Blue Gale’ and ‘Orange Frost’, pairs will be available from the SNKRS app and select retailers, with an expected price of $140.
