Nike’s revival of the Air Max 1 Leather, an original iteration from 1987, has finally returned, delivering more Anniversary-style AM1’s into 2021. This week, we have an early look at several colorways coming this month, including this “Dark Teal Green” releasing next week.
In 1987, following the success of the Air Max 1 debut the prior year, Nike launched a premium iteration of the new running shoe, decking out the silhouette in a heel-to-toe leather construction. Since then, the Air Max 1 Leather has largely been absent from the brand’s offerings, appearing only once in a while for extremely limited-edition projects and special releases. However, as the brand’s Anniversary celebration for the beloved shoe stretched from 2017 all the way into 2020 with no signs of oversaturation, the AM1 Leather found its way back into the production schedule, finally landing on retail shelves early in 2021. So far, the luxurious take on the classic shoe has emerged in a total of four colorways, the latest being a dark shade of Teal Green. Like the others in this collection, the green pair features the Air Max 1’s original white and grey-based color blocking, while the namesake color is present along the mudguard and Swooshes, as well as the tongue’s rear lining and Nike branding.

Nike’s latest colorway of the Air Max 1 Premium, the all-leather iteration of the classic runner, has been scheduled to drop this month, on April 15th, 2021. The high-quality version of the classic Air Max 1 will be available from both Nike and select retailers when it launches stateside, with an elevated retail price of $150.
