Nike’s annual release celebrating the life and legacy of Jackie Robinson is around the corner. This year, the Air Max 1 ’86 gets the honor, taking on a navy and white color scheme with plenty of ’42’ branding.

In 2021, Nike began an annual tradition of releasing a special-edition sneaker celebrating Jackie Robinson and his groundbreaking baseball career. The first release came in the form of the Air Griffey Max 1, followed by the Dunk Low in 2022 and the Air Force 1 in 2023. This week, we have an early look at their release for 2024, which features the “Big Bubble” Air Max 1 ’86. Similar to past releases, this pair comes in mostly navy blue suede, adding a white mudguard and midsole for a crisp look. The shoe’s metal eyelets, lace dubraes, and tongue patches come in a metallic gold finish, with several ’42’ motifs around the shoes.
