Nike’s FlyEase technology has been making some of their iconic silhouette’s more accessible to differently-abled people. This year, the Air Max 1 is getting the treatment, releasing with an easier lacing style for children.
The Nike Air Max 1 returned last year, celebrating the legendary running shoe’s thirty-fifth anniversary with a wave of new and classic colorways that has continued into 2023. Now, a new pair has emerged, this time with children in mind, adding their FlyEase technology for an easier lacing system. The color scheme is clean, beginning with a pale grey mesh base layer and adding Anthracite black overlays in nubuck on top. Accent colors come in light pink on the laces, mid layers, and inner lining, while a white Swoosh and Sail midsole complete the palette. The FlyEase system is new, utilizing a velcro piece on the outer sides to secure the laces in place, instead of their usual zipper that wraps around the heels.

Nike’s new Air Max 1 FlyEase has not been announced for release yet, though we hope to see them launch sometime later this year. Built for children, the accessible new option will likely be available through the brand’s own channels as well as select retailers, with an estimated price tag of $120.
