Nike has been slowly releasing new colorways of the Air Max 1, celebrating the shoe’s thirty-fifth anniversary. More colors are expected to arrive throughout the rest of the year, including this premium ‘Burgundy Crush’ colorway.
Retro releases of the Nike Air Max 1 have been few and far between so far this year, as the brand continues to line up new styles of the classic runner in celebration of its anniversary. Luckily, a number of new pairs have emerged in recent months, meaning we may see a few more colorways release before the year is through. This week, the AM1 gets a premium overhaul, dressed in a tonal ‘Burgundy Crush’ color scheme. The new look features soft velvet base layers for the toe boxes, and adds high-grade leather to the midfoot, heels, and mudguards. The heel counter and toe mid layers come in a rippled leather that is likely a reptile print, while silver metallic lace loops complete the upper. The midsole is a bit different, featuring stitching looping around the entirety of the silhouette.

Nike’s revival of the classic Air max 1 has been slow so far this year, though a number of new colorways are expected to release in the coming season, including this ‘Burgundy Crush’ pair. Dressed in tonal deep red shades, pairs will likely be available from both Nike’s SNKRS app and select retailers, with a price tag of $160. UPDATE 12/4/22: Nike’s upcoming ‘Burgundy Crush’ colorway of the Air Max 1 for women has been scheduled for release later this month, on December 8th, 2022. The special-edition pair will come with a price tag of $150 for the upgraded version, releasing via the SNKRS app and select retailers.
