The Nike Air Huarache is back. After debuting the newly remastered version by rereleasing the Stussy pairs from 2001, the classic running shoes are now set to return in original colorways in the coming weeks.
The Air Huarache was first developed by Nike designer Tinker Hatfield in 1991, built to provide marathon runners with all the comfort and cushioning they could need over long distances. Inspired by wetsuits that cling to the wearer’s body, remarkably lightweight running shoes quickly became a hit for the Swoosh, propelling the Air Huarache into footwear legend. Now, Nike is celebrating thirty years of the sleek silhouette, kicking off the anniversary with a complete remaster of the Stussy Air Huaraches from 2001, the first-ever brand collaboration of its kind. When we say remastered, we mean it for this release. The entire silhouette has been rebuilt from the ground up using modern-day materials, including fresh neoprene and a new phylon rubber formula for the midsole for softer wear and longer durability. Naturally, the Air Huarache will make its return initially in the classic “Scream Green” colorway, before moving onto the remaining three OG color schemes.

Nike’s upcoming retro release of the Air Huarache in its original “Scream Green” colorway has not yet been announced for release, though they are expected to drop sometime in the coming weeks. Remastered from the ground up, this year’s anniversary iteration of the Huarache will be available from both Nike and select retailers, with an updated price tag of $130. UPDATE 4/11/21: Nike has officially unveiled the 2021 Air Huarache “Scream Green” retro, slated to release on April 19th, 2021. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers for the usual $130.
