Nike’s various iterations of the classic Air Huarache continue to land in new colorways, extending the silhouette’s anniversary well into 2021. Today, we have an early look at an upcoming pair inspired by the vintage “Hike Nike” campaign, coming soon.

We have been fawning over Nike’s remastered Air Huarache all year long, a version of the classic runner introduced in 2020 to celebrate the shoe’s thirtieth anniversary in 2021. Launching everything from original colorways to special projects like the Stussy Air Huarache, the first collaboration of its kind, the vintage runner is fairly hard to miss right now. So today, when this upcoming “Hike Nike”-inspired pair surfaced online, it caught our attention immediately. The Hike Nike campaign began in the ’90s, as the Swoosh was building out the All Conditions Gear line, encouraging people to get outside and into the wilderness through fun, colorful graphic tees. The mascot of the campaign was the Hikeman, a cheerful looking cartoon man sporting plenty of Nike gear. Now, Nike is paying homage to that wonderful campaign with a limited-edition color of the Air Huarache, mixing orange, gold, blue, and black tones across the shoe’s upper, and hiding a Nike nylon label in the OG Hike Nike font near the heel of the shoe.
