Nike’s 30th-anniversary celebration for the Air Huarache runner is off to an excellent start. With original colorways slated to drop soon, today we have an early look at the “Escape” retro Nike has in store for this Spring.

The Nike Air Huarache is back this year, and celebrating a whopping thirty years as an essential part of Nike’s footwear lineup. Originally release in 1991, the lightweight runner was a game-changer when it first debuted, leaving runners around the world wanting more ultralight, form-fitting sneakers. Luckily, Nike is always keen to continue improving on their designs, leading the Huarache to remain a factor for decades after it was the peak of the Swoosh’s technology. Now, Nike is celebrating the Huarache with a string of retro releases, starting with the 2001 Stussy pairs earlier this year. Now, with the original “Scream Green” colorway ready to release any day now, Nike has unveiled another archival release making a comeback this year: the “Escape” Air Huarache from 2003. Part of the brand’s “Escape” pack, inspired by the act of escaping to the great outdoors, this Air Huarache features a natural color palette with shades of brown and grey, highlighted by a deep forest green to evoke the feeling of running through the woods.
