Originally released in 1996, the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2021 and The Kid has ramped up efforts with an iteration that honors Jackie Robinson.
In great efforts, Nike and Ken Griffey Jr will be celebrating the life of Jackie Robinson through his first signature sneaker, the Air Griffey Max 1. The new iteration is set to feature a universal black and white design that features a black upper that’s accented by white detailing throughout on branded portions and a special “42” that replaces the usual “24” branding on the ankle straps. Celebrating the past and looking for a better future, “There’s not an American in this country free until every one of us is free” is written tonally on the straps as well.

Jackie Robinson Day lands on April 15th, 2021 so a release date will likely go down sometime near then.
