Nike is celebrating the Air Force 1’s legacy as a basketball shoe with a special-edition new ‘Hoops’ release, adding embossed panels with basketballs and bold Nike logos to an upcoming release.

Nike’s Air Force 1 releases have been on fire this year, bringing out plenty of new heat for the silhouette’s fortieth anniversary celebration. While plenty of these styles apply new color schemes and rework the shoe for its current lifestyle purposes, the silhouette’s roots as a basketball shoe can’t be ignored. Today, we got an early look at a new Air Force 1 Low ‘Hoops’ honoring this legacy, applying embossed panels to the shoe’s midfoot with basketballs and Nike logos. The pair begins with a white leather base layer, the midsection of which features the embossed portions. The toe, heel, and midfoot overlays come in a very pale grey tone, while Swooshes are added in a fresh Kelly green shade, with grey mesh tongues to complete the look.

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW ‘HOOPS’ RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s latest basketball-inspired take on the Air Force 1 Low has not been given an official release date yet, though we expect to see them land in stores sometime this season. The ‘Hoops’ edition will be available from both Nike’s SNKRS app and select retailers, likely with a price tag of $140 due to the embossed paneling.
